Deep dive

Full features per plan

Everything below reflects what simulacrum-cli enforces per license and what simulacrum-templates ships: the shared base layer, template overlays, variant merges, and plugin packs.

Ship a real portfolio site from the same engine as paid tiers. Your license stays on one machine, one seat, with clear limits so you can evaluate Simulacrum honestly.

01

Who this tier is for

  • Developers who want to run the full generate, install, and dev loop before buying
  • Students, bootstrappers, and OSS contributors who need a polished portfolio without a card charge
  • Teams evaluating whether Simulacrum fits their Next.js and TypeScript standards
02

CLI and license (simulacrum-cli)

  • Use npx simulacrum-cli or a global simulate binary on Node.js 22.12 or newer
  • simulate portfolio <project-name> is the only template command unlocked on Free
  • simulate activate, simulate deactivate, simulate status, simulate login, simulate logout for license state
  • simulate templates lists what your current tier can scaffold
  • Flags such as --minimal, --skip-install, --skip-git, --use-npm, --use-yarn, --use-pnpm, and --use-bun work on supported commands
  • Output has no runtime dependency on Simulacrum after generation; you own the repository
03

Portfolio template surface area

  • Single blueprint: personal portfolio with project showcase, skills, timeline, blog, contact, downloadable resume, and testimonials-oriented sections
  • App Router pages including home, projects index and detail, about, blog index and post, contact, resume, plus admin routes in the template definition for when higher tiers unlock dashboard features
  • UI building blocks such as project cards and grids, skill bars, timeline, contact form, testimonial carousel, hero, about section, resume download, social links, and tech stack presentation
  • API routes for contact submissions and project data where the template provides them
  • better-auth ready in the stack; on Free, credential-based sign-in without OAuth providers per tier policy
04

Data, auth, and theming limits on Free

  • SQLite only through the Drizzle path the CLI enforces for this tier
  • Credentials authentication only; no Google, GitHub, or magic link unlock on Free
  • Light theme only in generated output: no dark mode package for this tier
  • No admin dashboard, RBAC, i18n bundle, or Playwright E2E suite as tier-gated capabilities
  • Watermark comment or marker in generated source so unlicensed output is identifiable
  • Exactly one seat on the license
05

Not included on Free (upgrade to unlock)

  • The other nineteen application types: e-commerce, SaaS, blog, documentation, corporate, landing, telehealth, marketplace, LMS, events, jobs board, directory, community, booking, newsletter, nonprofit, real estate, restaurant, and fitness
  • Industry sub-variants such as fashion or electronics storefronts, SaaS CRM or helpdesk modes, blog magazine or travel modes, portfolio photography or design modes, and documentation API-reference or design-system modes
  • simulate plugins <directory> for dropping Stripe, analytics, alternate databases, uploads, SEO packs, Docker, MDX, and CMS connectors into an existing tree
  • Prisma, Supabase client, and raw PostgreSQL adapters; multi-database choice
  • Full OAuth provider matrix, magic links, two-factor authentication, team seats, RBAC roles, admin analytics, internationalization, WCAG-oriented hardening, observability hooks, and removal of the watermark

Pricing questions

What is your refund policy?
Digital license purchases follow the terms shown at checkout. Contact support through your receipt email if you hit a blocking issue—we treat good-faith cases individually.
What does "lifetime" mean?
You keep generated code forever. Paid tiers include lifetime updates to the CLI and shipped templates, as described in the license.
How do team seats work?
Pro includes up to five activations. Rotate machines with deactivate/activate so seats reflect real usage.
Are major new products included in lifetime updates?
Lifetime updates cover the Simulacrum CLI and templates in your tier. Substantially new product lines may be offered separately; see the license for details.
What does WCAG 2.2 AA conformance mean?
Pro tier templates pass WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, verified by CPACC experts and manual screen reader testing. This includes skip links, focus indicators, color contrast, aria attributes, reduced motion support, and full keyboard navigation.
What are observability connectors?
Pro tier users can select observability integrations during project scaffolding: Sentry, Datadog, Grafana Cloud, Prometheus, New Relic, OpenTelemetry, and LogRocket. Each connector generates config files, dependencies, and environment variable templates.
How many templates are available?
Simulacrum ships 20 top-level templates with 80+ industry sub-variants, totaling over 100 unique scaffold configurations. All 20 templates are available now across Starter and Pro tiers.
